25.11.2019Tenth Anniversary Compliance Officer Training Program was successfully completed

On November 22, 2019, the tenth anniversary Compliance Officer Training Program was successfully completed. We are pleased to welcome the participants – now certified representatives responsible for the prevention of corruption (compliance officers). The program is being implemented as part of the project “Strengthening Anti-Corruption Compliance in Business”, which is being implemented jointly with the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).

Oleksandr Okuniev, Chairman of the Board of the Corporate Governance Professional Association,  the content leader of the program introduced the participants to the concept of compliance and anti-corruption compliance. O. Okuniev also noted the competitive advantages of a business with an implemented compliance policy. The issues of legal regulation of corruption prevention in business, international regulatory documents, requirements of the legislation of other countries applicable to Ukrainian business entities were separately considered.

It turned out to be interesting to consider Ukrainian and foreign cases on anti-corruption investigations.

Oleg Boyko, an independent consultant on corporate governance, risk management and compliance (GRC), introduced the program participants to the place and role of anti-corruption compliance in the organization and elements of anti-corruption compliance.

Separately, the anti-corruption program and its main elements were considered, namely:

  • Gift and Hospitality Policy,
  • Policy in the field of charity and support for political parties,
  • Conflict of Interest Policy,
  • Human resources, communications and training,
  • Corruption risk management,
  • Code of Ethics.

The practical lesson turned out to be interesting – the business game “Reporting Violation”, in which the participants took an active part.

Oleg Lagodienko, Director of Ethicontrol, shared with the participants the practical experience of implementing the “hot line” in Ukrainian companies, and also noted which channels for reporting violations work, do not work and what benefits the company receives from establishing effective detection tools (whistleblowing system) .

Pavel Verkhnyatsky, Managing Director of COSA, told the participants about the place of corporate intelligence in the compliance system, and also drew attention and noted the importance of the verification procedure of third parties – the company’s counter-parties.

 

Ekaterina Lysova, CIPE Program Officer, took part in the Program and congratulated the participants. She noted the high level of trainers on the program, as well as the great interest of the participants and their willingness to cooperate.

With great enthusiasm and deepening in the subject, the participants presented their group work on building a system of measures to minimize certain corruption risks in the model company.

The program ended with the presentation of the anti-corruption management systems ISO 37001. The ISO 37001:2016 is a new international standard designed to help companies implement an anti-corruption management system. The standard allows to identify and prevent corruption. The presentation was held by Pavel Matyushko, consultant and trainer of S.I.C. Global Inc. Ukraine.

The next program is scheduled for spring 2020.
