20.10.2021Compliance Officer: Criteria, Duties, and Challenges of the Profession – Vision of Experts

On October 19, 2021, Oleksandr Okuniev, Chairman of the CGPA Management Board, participated in a panel discussion on compliance officers, professional criteria, challenges, and responsibilities. The discussion was organized by the Ukrainian Network Integrity and Compliance (UNIC) as part of the opening of Business Integrity Month 2021. Thus began an important dialogue on making business sustainable, promising, and responsible in modern challenges and investor vision.

Today, compliance is a new ethic, a new language spoken by the entire developed world of business, thanks to which it builds its connections.

The participants of the panel were:

  • Marina Romas, Head of Ethics and Business Integrity Sanofi Aventis Ukraine, Chair of the Network Integrity Committee
  • Tetyana Khavanska, Adviser to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
  • Ilya Antonenko, Compliance Resource Director, Data Protection Officer, TRACE Int.

The panel was moderated by Victoria Gnap, Project Coordinator of the UNIC Business Integrity Academy..

Participants talked about the problem of lack of compliance profession’s PR, the need to open a career path for those who are interested in this type of activity, what the compliance officer should know and be able to do, the essential personal qualities of compliance professionals, what awaits the profession in the future (what are the possible prospects, whether this profession will be in demand in the future and why). Each speaker shared their achievements in promoting and developing the profession, professionals, and the culture of compliance.

  1. Okuniev spoke about the achievements of the CGPA in the field of officer compliance training and invited to register for the upcoming Compliance Officer Training Program, which is scheduled for November 1-5, 2021.
