Global CEOs are increasingly integrating ESG into their strategies, and many boards are developing this expertise to effectively address sustainability issues. Ukraine needs to prioritise these issues, especially given the impact of the war.
On the last weekend of May, Nina Dombrovska, co-founder and co-president of Women on Boards Ukraine, member of the National Registry of Corporate Directors, and speaker of the Corporate Director Program, represented the Corporate Governance Professional Association (CGPA) at the ESG and Sustainability Training for Boards of Directors in Istanbul. The event, organised by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), was aimed at improving corporate governance, promoting sustainable business models and supporting global sustainable development goals.
“To address the lack of knowledge of sustainability among boards, CGPA integrates these important topics into its programs for corporate directors. This initiative aims to increase the competencies of boards of directors and strengthen the integration of ESG into corporate strategies. I am pleased to contribute to this important development, which is essential for the future of Ukraine,” – said N. Dombrowska.
The training was held within the framework of the IFC’s Promoting Investment through Integrated Environmental, Social and Governance Standards in Europe and Central Asia Programme, implemented in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The aim of the Programme is to encourage and assist companies in adopting best corporate governance practices, thereby enhancing their ability to attract sustainable investment.
