The Corporate Governance Professional Association (CGPA) welcomes the establishment of the Coordination Council on Corporate Governance under the National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine — a permanent platform for professional discussion of issues relating to the development of corporate governance in Ukraine, the updating of the Corporate Governance Code, and the formulation of modern recommendations and approaches in this field.
The group of Ukrainian experts includes members of the CGPA Board of Directors: Oleksandr Okuniev and Volodymyr Igonin.
The establishment of the Coordination Council is an important step in the context of Ukraine’s European integration, the development of the capital market and the implementation of modern corporate governance standards.
As noted by NSSMC member Maksym Libanov, corporate governance today is not merely a matter of companies’ internal procedures, but one of the key factors in investment attractiveness, business sustainability and asset management efficiency.
It is expected that the updated Ukrainian Corporate Governance Code will take into account modern international standards and OECD recommendations, as well as new approaches to the activities of supervisory boards, risk management, ESG, compliance, internal control and the protection of investors’ rights.
The participation of CGPA members in the work of the Coordination Council represents an important opportunity for the professional community to contribute to the development of a modern corporate governance system in Ukraine and to the formulation of practical approaches that meet international standards and the needs of Ukrainian business.
