09.07.2024The second meeting of the Corporate Director program graduates took place

July was a special month for the graduates of the Corporate Director Program, which is conducted by the Ukrainian Corporate Governance Institute with the support of CGPA. Leading experts in the field of corporate governance and more than 150 graduates of the program gathered at the InterContinental Kyiv Hotel to share their experience, discuss new trends and just communicate.

Before the official part, all participants had the opportunity to greet old friends and groupmates and meet new graduates of the 21st program. Afterwards, all the alumni took part in a panel discussion on Corporate Director Career Development, which was a continuation of last year’s meeting, as the topic remains relevant today.

This year, the CGPA’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Oleksandr Okuniev, led the conversation. He answered questions from the alumni together with Oleksiy Dolgikh, Managing Partner of Boyden Ukraine, member of the CGPA Board of Directors, a graduate of the 2017 program; Volodymyr Igonin, Partner at Vasil Kisil & Partners, member of the CGPA Board of Directors, member of the National Registry of Corporate Directors; Armen Kurginyan, Managing Partner of Silta Group of Companies, a graduate of the 2020 program; Sergiy Konovets, member of the Supervisory Boards of Ukrainian Defense Industry JSC and Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC, member of the National Registry of Corporate Directors; Oksana Strashna, member of the CGPA Board of Directors, member of the National Registry of Corporate Directors.

The panel discussed the opportunities and prospects for joining existing boards of public and private companies, emphasised the development of a corporate director’s personal brand, and learned about the features of the European Board Diploma by EcoDa training program. Particular attention was paid to career experience transitioning from a top manager to a member of advisory boards. It was interesting to consider the needs and possibilities of establishing supervisory boards in municipal enterprises shortly.

Participants also learned about the continuation of CGPA projects aimed at the professional and continuous development of directors’ careers, namely the updated Corporate Director Program, which added new and relevant topics; the Annual International Corporate Directors Forum, which will be held for the seventh time this year and is scheduled for December 04; the National Registry of Corporate Directors, which continues to be replenished with new members and is freely available on the CGPA website.

A unique gift for the program graduates was individual access to the CGPA Resource Center, which began operating on July 01, 2024. The Resource Center is a new stage in the organization and delivery of selected and processed information for members of supervisory boards, corporate secretaries, corporate governance specialists and anyone who needs professional resources in one place from CGPA and the Ukrainian Corporate Governance Institute.

During the event, the initiative to create a Corporate Directors Solidarity Fund was also announced, which aims to support the professional development of Ukrainian corporate directors who are unable to finance their own training at the Institute’s Corporate Director program due to the war. Most of the program graduates have already joined this initiative during the meeting.

After the discussion, all participants had the opportunity to enjoy networking on the roof of the InterContinental Kyiv hotel. A great atmosphere, new acquaintances and exchange of contacts made this evening unforgettable.

Special thanks to our partners, Boyden Ukraine and Winner Leasing, who helped make this meeting possible and truly special.

We thank everyone who joined this event! We hope you not only gained new knowledge and ideas but also found new partners and friends. We look forward to seeing you at the next CGPA events!
