On March 29, representatives of the Anti-Corruption Office of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia presented the draft Anti-Corruption Program of the company and held a public discussion with representatives of NGOs and government agencies.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, the National Agency for the Corruption Prevention (NACP) and experts from the Basel Governance Institute, the Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC), the Corporate Governance Professional Association (CGPA), NGO Stop Corruption, NGO Independent Anti-Corruption Commission, LLC Center OCA and others.
In February, Ukrzaliznytsia JSC appealed to experts and the public to take part in the discussion of the draft Anti-Corruption Program. CGPA, as an association that has significant experience in conducting training programs for anti-corruption officers in the business sector and has good expertise at the intersection of corporate governance and compliance, also provided its proposals to this document, most of which were taken into account.
The CGPA was represented at the event by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Oleksandr Okuniev, who said in his speech: “Participation in this work is interesting for us for several reasons. Firstly, a large number of top managers of Ukrzaliznytsia involved in the development of the Anti-Corruption Program are graduates of CGPA training programs, so we can observe the practical implementation of the results of our work, support the professional community that is united around us – what could be better? Secondly, we understand that Ukrzaliznytsia is one of the few companies in the country that attracts everyone’s attention, which is used to judge the state of affairs in Ukraine and to be looked up to. So, by helping Ukrzaliznytsia, we are setting the tone or, in other words, the fashion for preventing corruption for the whole of Ukraine. Thirdly, it seems that people really want to move forward with this stubborn and complicated issue. We would like to help them!”
The CGPA received an official letter of appreciation from Ukrzaliznytsia JSC for its active participation in developing the Anti-Corruption Program and contribution to developing the company’s integrity culture.
