On Wednesday, January 25, training on building transparent and accountable activities of Ukrainian NGOs engaged in volunteer and charitable activities started.

The series of workshops focuses on transparency, accountability, trust building, anti-corruption compliance systems, and best practices in corporate governance.

Since the outbreak of hostilities, many organizations and individuals abroad have sought to provide financial and material assistance to Ukraine by transferring funds, donating equipment, providing humanitarian aid, etc. Many of them are wondering how to choose a reliable organization in Ukraine to cooperate with that they would trust.

As a result of the workshops, NGOs will understand the main principles and standards of work organization to build trusting relationships with partners and attract as much assistance to Ukraine as possible.

Oleksandr Okuniev, Chairman of the CGPA Management Board, began by considering the topic “Corporate Governance in Non-Profit Organizations: What exactly is meant; why is it needed and how to ensure it?”. In particular, he focused the participants’ attention on the following issues:

• definition and elements of corporate governance,
• who needs corporate governance and why?
• what are the “best corporate governance standards”?
• governing bodies of a non-profit organization, their structure, interaction, and organization of work.

The next workshop dedicated to the finances and reporting of non-governmental organizations will be held on February 1.
