On June 9-10, 2021, the first module of the fourteenth Professional Development Program for Board Members “Corporate Director” was held. CGPA has successfully implemented the Program for five years in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Center for International Private Entrepreneurship (CIPE).
Olena Voloshyna, Head of the IFCs’ Operations in Ukraine, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
Oleksandr Okuniev, Chairman of the CGPA Management Board and the ideological inspirer of the Program, spoke with the participants about the main elements of corporate governance, the role and competencies of the Supervisory Board as well as its composition and role of directors.
The participants talked about the board’s role in the development of the company’s strategy and its implementation with Timur Bairov, Chairman of the Kazakh division of Bitfury Group, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bridge Group, Member of the Supervisory Board of Astana Startup Hub.
Oleg Zhuravlov, a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Krona Insurance Company, shared his work experience in boards as told about the organization of the Board of Directors, the induction session, scheduling of Board meetings, Board committees. He also singled out the role of the Chairman of the Board and the role of the corporate secretary in the work of the supervisory boards of Ukrainian and foreign companies.
This Program is special because it involves online representatives of Kazakhstani businesses. In total, almost 50 participants took part in the module.
The next module of the Program is June 23-24, 2021.
