\"\"Kateryna Rozhkova<\/strong>, First Deputy Head of the the National Bank of Ukraine, during the session devoted to the supervisory boards at the state service, as well as answers to the question “What have we achieved in 4 years of reforms?” at the III International Corporate Directors Forum<\/a>, noted the positive effects of the introduction of supervisory boards in the banks. \u00a0She noted that the effective work of supervisory boards contributes to the growth of profitability of banks;\u00a0 a good illustration of this is Ukrgasbank. In turn, Ukreximbank and Oshchadbank are unprofitable – it is evidence of why it is necessary to introduce as soon as possible supervisory boards in the management of banks.<\/p>\n

When asked why the banking sector was the first to reform and introduce proper corporate governance in banks, K. Rozhkova responded: “Because banks, according to their activities, should integrate into the international systems and should meet all their conditions and standards. As a consequence, after the introduction of standards within the banks, the implementation, application and adherence of the same standards and systems of proper corporate governance of their counterparties from the real economy will be required”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

At the end, K.Rozhkova noted that “As soon as we build the correct corporate governance system in banks, then in a year everything will change in the real sector because companies will have to work according to the rules and conditions of the banks.<\/em>“<\/p>\n
