For three months, the Secretariat of the Corporate Governance Professional Association has been actively working with potential candidates to the National Registry of Corporate Directors, the launch of which was announced in early April 2017 at a press conference of the members of the Registry Advisory Board<\/a>.<\/p>\nA large number of the questions and comments on the rules for inclusion in the Registry, the selection criteria and the functioning of the Registry Advisory Board underline the great interest to the Registry.<\/p>\n
Oleg Trypolskyy,<\/strong> the Registry Advisory Board Secretary, answered to the most popular questions.<\/p>\n Question 1<\/strong><\/em>: I have an economic education, a corporate secretary certificate, but no practical experience as a member of the Supervisory Board or Corporate Secretary. What are my chances to be included in the Registry? Question 2<\/strong><\/em>: Does membership in CGPA affect the Registry Advisory Board’s decision to be included in the Registry? Question 3<\/strong><\/em>: If I am included in the Registry, what is the probability of becoming a member of any Supervisory Board?
\nAnswer<\/strong><\/em>: The Registry Advisory Board will make decision taking into account all the circumstances. In itself, the lack of the practical experience in Corporate Governance is not a formal reason for rejection, although this is certainly a serious disadvantage. However, all start somewhere. Even if you are not approved on the first occasion, this is an incentive to continue studying in this direction, for example, to attend training program for Corporate Directors, and then re-apply for inclusion in the Registry.<\/p>\n
\nAnswer<\/strong><\/em>: The Regulation on the Registry does not indicate that the membership in the Association is a condition for inclusion in the Registry. Moreover, the members of the Registry Advisory Board, as independent experts, are not members of the CGPA. However, membership in the CGPA, which in accordance with the Charter unites individuals who work in the sphere of corporate governance, proves the high qualification of the candidate.<\/p>\n
\nAnswer<\/strong><\/em>: The Registry is open and the Association will make every effort to promote it. The Association is in contact with the relevant government authorities on this issue. However, it should be noted that the selection of representatives of the state and independent directors, which the state will offer to the Supervisory Boards, provides for the competitive selection of such candidates. At the same time, the Association is ready to provide recommendations for members of the Registry, as well as the necessary assistance in the preparation of documents for the competition.<\/p>\n
