On 20-24 November 2023, the hall of the Corporate Governance Professional Association once again gathered specialists, professionals, and those who are just starting their steps in anti-corruption compliance in Ukrainian companies and government institutions. A circle of like-minded people gathered to undergo training and professional development at the Anti-Corruption Compliance Training Program for Authorized Persons Responsible for Implementing Anti-Corruption Programs and Compliance Officers.<\/strong> <\/em>The Program has been implemented since 2017 in constant and close cooperation with partners. This Training Program was supported by the EBRD Ukraine Stabilisation and Sustainable Growth Multi-Donor Account (Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union, the largest donor).<\/span><\/p>\n

The participants of the program included representatives of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine (Mininfrastructure) and state-owned enterprises and agencies under its supervision, including compliance and anti-corruption specialists from Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrposhta, the Service for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of various regions, Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, city councils, etc.<\/p>\n

Serhiy Derkach<\/strong>, Deputy Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine,<\/em> said: “The professional development of anti-corruption commissioners is a strategic task in building the Ministry’s compliance system. The quality of the Anti-Corruption Program’s tasks and transparency in the implementation of recovery projects depend on the level of their professionalism.”<\/p>\n

\u0406rina Kravchenko, <\/strong> Deputy Head of the EBRD in Ukraine<\/span><\/em>, noted:\u00a0\u201cEBRD is pleased to support compliance and anti-corruption training programs in collaboration with the Ukrainian Ministry for Restoration, catering to compliance officers and professionals at State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) under the Ministry’s remit, including municipal enterprises. This ambitious initiative confirms our commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and robust corporate governance at every level in Ukraine’s public sector, for a stronger recovery and EU accession.\u201d<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The speakers of the program, namely Oleksandr Okuniev<\/strong>, Chairman of the CGPA Board of Directors, Olga Shenk<\/strong>, Partner of Dispute Resolution and Compliance Practice at CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang in Ukraine, Pavlo Verkhnyatsky,<\/strong> Founder and CEO of COSA, Oleg Lagodiyenko<\/strong>, Director of Ethicontrol, representatives of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption on the work of the Commissioners, Anna Fedorenko<\/strong>, UNDP Ukraine National Consultant on strengthening coordination of the work of anti-corruption commissioners to increase transparency and accountability of the recovery process in Ukraine, Kateryna Datsko,<\/strong> Executive Director, and Olena Karpova<\/strong>, expert of the NGO “Foundation for Institutional Development”<\/em>, shared their achievements and experience.<\/p>\n

The program participants successfully completed the training, passed the test and defended their group work. \u00a0Yaroslav Tomashivskyi<\/strong>, Internal Control Specialist at the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Lviv Oblast<\/em>, said: “The program impresses with its practical focus. It provides an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in real-life situations, which helps to consolidate theoretical aspects and turn them into concrete skills. The use of real-life cases and scenarios makes it easier to understand the complex aspects of anti-corruption management. I would also like to note the great attention paid to ethical issues and stakeholder engagement. This allows us to understand the importance of building trust as a key component of a successful anti-corruption strategy. In general, the Anti-Corruption Compliance training program impresses with its quality, relevance and ability to effectively provide participants with the necessary tools to implement anti-corruption measures in any organisational environment.”<\/span><\/p>\n
