This index assesses Ukraine\u2019s 50 largest companies and taxpayers based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors and serves as a critical tool for investors to evaluate Ukrainian companies\u2019 sustainability efforts. Both CGPA and CSR Ukraine hope that this publication will result in more companies adopting ESG strategies, as such initiatives enable companies to reap financial, reputational, and governance benefits. All information collected in this index is based on publicly-available information and all featured companies participated in the assessment voluntarily.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HAZ-Md_WYAM\">Video<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><em><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" data-id=\"12109\" src=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_010-200x300.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12109 alignleft\" caption=\"false\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_010-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_010-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_010-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_010.jpg 1365w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>\u00abThis year we evaluated public information for 2020 in accordance with ESG-criteria (social, environmental and governance factors in the work of companies) on the websites of Ukrainian companies that were included in the top 50 taxpayers, and companies that voluntarily joined the assessment. The top 10 most transparent companies include 5 state-owned and 5 private companies\u00bb<\/em>, &#8211; <strong>Maryna saprykina<\/strong> , Head of the CSR Center Ukraine, said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Every company has a direct and indirect impact on the environment and society regardless of its sector. Companies can manage these impacts by implementing a transparent and effective corporate governance system. An integrated ESG strategy helps companies set goals and monitor their progress over time. ESG measurement and optimization for companies is critical, as ESG factors rank among the top three key criteria investors assess when gauging companies&#8217; sustainability and deciding whether or not to make sustainable investments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" data-id=\"12107\" src=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_006-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12107 alignright\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_006-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_006-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_006-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_006.jpg 1980w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Fifty-six company websites were analyzed and evaluated in the following areas: corporate governance, human rights, labor relations, environment, consumer relations, fair operating practices, community outreach, company reporting (including governance and non-financial reports), site navigation and accessibility.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" data-id=\"12111\" src=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_029-200x300.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12111 alignleft\" caption=\"false\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_029-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_029-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_029-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_029.jpg 1365w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>\u00ab<\/span><em>ESG factors are not just a fashion in corporate governance, but make serious sense to investors. If previously a good company for investment was considered the one that brings in more money, today the one that is better governed, that is, has a sustainable development path and is the most reliable. That is why today such attention to transparency of governance is manifested in high environmental and social standards of this or that organization<\/em><span>\u00bb, &#8211; <strong>Oleksandr Okuniev<\/strong>, Chairman of the CGPA Management Board, added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Companies recognized for demonstrating the highest levels of transparency of their corporate websites include:\u00a0\u2022 <strong>PJSC &#8220;VF Ukraine&#8221;,\u00a0\u2022 JSC &#8220;First Ukrainian International Bank&#8221;, \u2022 DTEK Group,\u00a0\u2022 JSB UKRGASBANK,\u00a0\u2022 Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine Limited,\u00a0\u2022 NNEGC Energoatom,\u00a0\u2022 MHP,\u00a0\u2022 PJSC &#8220;Ukrhydroenergo&#8221;,\u00a0\u2022 JSC Ukrainian Railways,\u00a0\u2022 NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" data-id=\"12115\" src=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_048-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12115 alignright\" caption=\"false\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_048-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_048-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_048-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_048.jpg 1980w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\u00ab<em>The level of transparency of Ukrainian companies is gradually increasing. ESG indicators disclosed by Ukrainian companies include\u00a0\u00a026.4 percent social aspects, including human rights, labor relations, supply chain, responsible consumption, community development, management and company leadership,\u00a0\u00a036.6 percent environmental aspects,\u00a0\u00a027.7 percent corporate governance aspects<\/em><\/span><span><em>\u00bb<\/em>, &#8211; <strong>Alla Zinchenko<\/strong>, Expert of the CSR Center Ukraine, said. She presented the general resulth and methodology of the research.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" data-id=\"12113\" src=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_083-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12113 alignleft\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_083-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_083-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_083-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/IMG_web_083.jpg 1980w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/span><span>The average level of information disclosure by Ukrainian companies is ranked at 32 percent according to ESG categories. For companies from the TOP-10 list, the disclosure level hovers over 60 percent. Companies part of this assessment reported disclosing general information about the company, its environmental protection measures, and community relations news. While the Top-10 companies featured in this index disclose twice as much information in the \u201cContent\u201d category and almost two-and-a-half times as much information in the \u201cReporting\u201d category, many of these companies still struggle with disclosing information related to human rights issues, status of CSR integration in supply chains, and corporate leadership. Despite this, the disclosure level has improved since the last assessment in 2019. .<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The events of recent years indicate that the performance of companies will be measured not only by financial indicators, but also by indicators that demonstrate the company&#8217;s achievements in the field of environmental, social and governance goals (ESG) and contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Ukrainian companies should take into account these global trends.
