On March 3 and 5<\/strong> at the Academy of Public Broadcasting, the Corporate Governance Professional Association held Thematic training on corporate governance for members of the Supervisory Board of the Public Broadcaster.<\/p>\nThe members of the Supervisory Board were told about the role of corporate governance in companies, measures of building an effective corporate governance model in a company, the role of the Supervisory Board and its committees in the strategic management of the company, corporate security, successful examples of supervisory boards in Ukrainian and international companies, etc.<\/p>\n
Speakers of the Program were: Oleksandr Okuniev<\/em><\/strong>, Chairman of the CGPA Management Board; Elena Volska<\/em><\/strong>, Managing Partner of EBS; Member of the National Registry of Corporate Directors; Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee, Nova Posta (2016-2017); Sergey Pogrebnoy<\/em><\/strong>, Partner of Sayenko Kharenko, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Corporate Security Professionals of Ukraine; Alexey Dolgikh, Managing Partner of Boyden Global Executive Search; member of the CGPA Management Board; Oleg Zhuravlov<\/em><\/strong>, member of the SB of Ukrzaliznytsia, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Krona Insurance Company, Advisor to the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.<\/p>\n According to the Supervisory Board Chairman, Svetlana Ostapa, there was no corporate governance training for the first term’s Supervisory Board members.<\/p>\n In 2020, Svitlana Ostapa<\/em><\/strong> and NSTU Supervisory Board Secretary and Audit Committee Chairman Vadim Miskiy took part in the CGPA Corporate Director Training Program and noted its effectiveness.<\/p>\n Now, most of the members of the Supervisory Board are new people. The training was conducted to deepen their understanding of corporate governance and better understand its operations. The main goal is not profit but to provide objective, balanced information and work for the public good.<\/p>\n “Public Broadcasting, although it has peculiarities in its work, is still a company that manages a portfolio of different assets, operates resources, and achieves certain indicators in fulfilling its mission. Successful companies in Ukraine and worldwide use corporate governance to ensure the sustainability of their operations and achieve their goals. During the first NSTU Supervisory Board cadence, we collected the necessary experience from various sources when adopting strategic corporate documents. We looked for successful examples, and analyzing the results of work today, we understand that we took the right steps. I am glad that the new members of the Supervisory Board do not have to start from scratch, but can at once get the necessary knowledge package for work in accordance with the corporate governance standards”, – Vadim Miskiy<\/em><\/strong> explained.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/cgpa.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/158361282_428922738178444_6379936149648166629_n-300x197.jpg\")
“The public broadcaster – which was created four years ago – turned from a state-owned company immediately into a joint-stock company, and so it was a challenge for all the management bodies of the company: both the Supervisory Board and the Board, for everyone. That’s why it is important to understand how to establish relations in the company’s management so that it would be to the benefit of the public,” Svetlana Ostapa said.<\/p>\n
